There were many places where UpToYou left its mark this past March. As part of a five weeks academic stay, UpToYou stopped at Puebla, Aguascalientes, Veracruz and Queretaro. The main destination this time was the university of Puebla Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP). The main reason for this stay at UPAEP was the opening of a line of research on emotional education similar to that of UpToYou. If everything goes according to plan, this work will result in a partnership program between UNAV (University of Navarra) and the UPAEP. During his time there, the director of UpToYou, José Víctor Orón, explained that emotions are an effect of the complexity of humans’ life, therefore they can no longer be considered haphazard but they become logical, though complex, while they provide information of one’s personal state. He asserted that he has observed a worldwide tendency to make education more and more technical; the key to the student’s success is to obtain good qualifications. In addition, the philosophical, neuroscientific and psychological foundations of the different proposals on emotional education were explained. During the weekends UpToYou visited other universities in Mexico. Through the iniciative of the Department of Humanities at Cristobal Colón University (Veracruz), UpToYou presented the conference: “Emotional education in the educational process”. The goal was to set general strategies to be implemented by teachers in order to promote the development of emotional education among teenagers. The conference was shared in two encounters. Firstly it was presented to academics from the Department of Education Sciences and Psychology, alongside tutors from other Bachelor degrees at Cristobal Colón Universtiy. Secondly the conference was shared with a bigger audience, including Colegio Colón, Colegio Calasancio Nuevo Veracruz and Escuela Calasanz. At a meeting with the dean it was discussed the possibility to reach an agreement between Cristobal Colón and UNAV (University of Navarra) for the development of UpToYou. Another visit was paid to the Universidad Panamericana’s headquarters in Aguascalientes. The foundations of UpToYou were also introduced to students from the psychology and pedagogy degree at a lunch meeting with interested professors, as well as at a dinner meeting with students of the last year of the psychology degree. Finally, the program was presented at the research center CISAV in Querétaro.

On March 28th, UpToYou director, José Víctor Orón, was invited to the program “Compartiendo vidas” which is broadcasted on Radio Puebla TV, in Puebla (Mexico).
This program discusses a topic everyday with one or two experts stating the pros and cons of the issue and trying to address some concerns about it, as well as presenting ways of improving our lives. This time the topic discussed was “the emotional education of adolescents within the family” and José Víctor explained, among other aspects, the importance of such education at that vital life stage. Thanks for this wonderful experience! You can see the full program here. We are happy to present the next training course of the educational program UpToYou in Pamplona which will start in May.
As you already know, UpToYou is a platform for the reflection and dissemination of emotional education, understood as integration at the service of personal growth. The final aim is that the person can make a journey of personal growth, whose first step is the acceptance of their own reality, which is discovered through their emotional situation. To sum up, we are searching for a different way of thinking and teaching, trying to improve teacher-student relationships and transforming the classroom, the house, the school, etcetera into a platform for personal growth. Here are the details about the training which will start on May 12th DATES May 12th-13th May 19th-20th May 26th-27th June 2nd-3rd June 9th-10th June 16th-17th HOURS Friday from 17:30 to 19:30 Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 and from 12:00 to 13:30 PLACE Foro Europeo c/Esparza Bidea 5 31190 Cizur Menor, Navarra. You can see all the details of the training as well as registration details HERE On February 28, UpToYou director, José Víctor Orón, taught 45 teachers in Tafalla (Navarra) a course on developmental neuropsychology in children aged 0 to 4 years.
The importance of the early age interval in which the child acquires attitudes and dispositions before the life that allows him to live in a basic confidence, self-esteem and autonomy was treated. We also analyzed the adequate way to understand these terms and their effect on adolescence, since: the child is the father of the young and the adult. A new opportunity to share our knowledge, put experiences in common and, above all, continue to progress and learn about our great task: the education of our people. We are pleased to inform you about the new agreement 'Scholas Occurrentes-UpToYou', through which we will promote actions aimed at education for peace, inclusion, emotional education, social integration and training in values.
The Culture and Society Institute (ICS), a research center in the humanities and social sciences of the University of Navarra and the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation, have signed the agreement, which aims to: search for peace; The promotion of diversity, dialogue, respect and cooperation; And the development of virtuous life and integral maturation in children and young people. It is hoped to promote the culture of the meeting. Scholas Occurrentes has its origins in the city of Buenos Aires in 2001, thanks to the initiative of the then Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio, current Pope Francisco. Scholas works by generating networks between Universities and Schools and educational communities, both public and private, of all religious and lay confessions. Full of illusion we will present a different way of thinking and educating. On this occasion, the training was addressed to teachers, educators, parents, catechists and people over 18 years. On February 19, the first UpToYou training in Valencia was completed.
Attendees were able to listen, understand and work the main objective of the program: that the person can make a process of personal growth, whose first step is the reception of reality itself, which is discovered from their emotional situation. Over several days, during the month of January and February, in sessions from Friday to Sunday, the 54 participants could enjoy UpToYou. Then, Teresa, one of the participants to the training, tells us her experience: "This weekend we finished the UpToYou course in Valencia. For me it has been a life experience, starting with the environment that has been created, more than fifty people, mostly unknown and yet sharing something as beautiful and deep as the emotions. We have laughed, we have suffered from fatigue, from confrontation, we have shared the joy of discovering the roots of the person, and the joy that comes from facing oneself, its reality. Even when it can be a bit painful at times. But what has awakened in me this course is gratitude. It has helped me to contemplate the details of each day, to know and enjoy the person I have next, to dismiss the judgment and to replace it with the word reconciliation. Once again, Caja Navarra Foundation has supported the UpToYou program in the call for grants for projects for this year 2017.
Caja Navarra Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation which, in accordance with its Statutes approved by the Government of Navarre and the Ministry of Economy, on 27 June 2014, aims to: promote social, economic and cultural progress in Navarra. The UpToYou team strives to define holistic formation and clear counseling in emotional education. This includes personal experience, self-assessment, a complete theory, various application tools and professional follow-up. Thanks to Caja Navarra Foundation! During the stay of the UpToYou team in Brazil, 50 teachers from the Cançao Nova Institute were trained. The whole group was able to enjoy an interesting training from January 18 to 20 in morning and afternoon sessions.
As with the rest of the teaching teams that receive the training in Brazil, these sessions were followed by those initiated in January 2016, conducted in a similar format. They have been a few days of great work, in which they have shared experiences, concepts and new visions of understanding teaching. In addition, due to the good results observed since the implementation of UpToYou, for this next course, the teachers will apply the program on themselves, as well as on the students They have been several days of knowledge, experiences and, above all, personal growth. The UpToYou team landed in Cachoirea Paulista (Brazil) last January 18 to develop a training course for a total of 25 social educators, all belonging to the institution Cançao Nova. Specifically, the team of social educators received 21 hours of training from January 23 to 27, in several sessions divided between morning and afternoon.
The work carried out continued the work started in January 2016, which was done with a similar format. All of them attended modules 1 and 2 of the UpToYou training previously. Due to the satisfaction and good results, it is anticipated that for the next academic year 2017/2018 social educators will apply the UpToYou program not only on the students, but also on themselves, since it is a great opportunity to review and renew The relationship with the student. The Federation of Catholic Schools of Navarra organized the formation of the UpToYou program. Three Navarrese centers attended the training in November 2017.
Throughout three days of training, attendees were able to correctly conceptualize what emotion is and therefore emotional education. They knew the different ways of understanding education and finally, understand all the elements that converge on emotion. Some of the contents that were treated in this training were: concepts, fundamentals, distinction between different models of emotional education and examples of educational intervention. |
